Edinburgh and London : W. & A. K. Johnston, 1910. Measuring 18 inches (46cm) in diameter, 27 inches (60 cm) tall; engraved coloured gores over plaster base, graduated equator, ecliptic and Greenwich meridian, the oceans with an analemma and ocean currents, nickel meridian ring, engraved calendrical paper horizon ring with zodiac laid on wood, supported on the original stand of four turned ebonised wooden legs united with cross-stretchers. A fine example with no signs of restoration, a rich and warm patina, recent lacquer expertly applied for conservation. Accompanied by the original 42 page manual (Johnston’s handbook to the Terrestrial Globe).
