[Paris : J. Lebeque et cie., circa 1870]. Terrestrial pocket globe, 2 inches in diameter, engraved gores over plaster and wooden sphere, metal pins with minor restoration, in a turned French walnut stand, probably original, with fine patina. The engraver is credited as J. C. B. A fine example of a rare pocket globe.

The firm of Lebeque was founded in Brussels in 1814 and relocated to Paris in 1850. This terrestrial globe is a charming example of a miniature pocket globe with Sydney and Melbourne marked on the continent of Nouvelle Hollande. While the Antarctic circle is marked there is no indication of an Antarctic continent. Rare in this condition.
