Biography of the British sculptor Charles Summers (1825-1878), who lived and worked in Melbourne between 1854 and 1867. Among Summers’ many colonial commissions the most famous and enduring is his large bronze sculpture of Burke and Wills, completed in 1865, which graces the corner of Swanston and Collins Street.
