[UK or Australia? : probably between 1880 and 1890]. Oblong quarto album (235 x 320 mm), original blind-blocked brown cloth over boards with ‘Album’ lettered in gilt on upper board; [20] leaves with mounted die-cut chromolithographed scraps, and a further [10] leaves unused; plus a small number of unmounted scraps loosely enclosed at the front of the album; an expected amount of scattered foxing and glue staining; binding firm.

This charming, intact album contains an enormous array of eye-catching scraps: animals, both domesticated and wild, including kittens and puppies, ducks, a circus elephant, lions and tigers; birds, including several cockatoos; flowers; seashells; ballerinas; teddybears; soldiers, including General Gordon on horseback towering over a dead African warrior; and an impressive fire engine.
