Japan (probably Kyoto) : circa 1900. Silk-bound folding album measuring 485 x 335 x 60 mm, containing 68 original watercolours on card of exquisite kimono designs; numbering in Japanese; housed in a modern Japanese box, plain manuscript label to spine Hinagata (=Designs).

A stunning collection of original kimono designs in vivid colour and with fine detail. There is no indicator of a maker or location; however, the album was sourced in Kyoto, which is recognised as the principal centre of kimono production in the late Meiji era.
