Autobiographical account of young Englishman George Miller’s years at sea during the Napoleonic era. He left his home in Lincolnshire at the age of 17, and in his eventful maritime experiences he travelled to Hobart Town in Van Diemen’s Land; joined a whaling expedition to New Zealand; visited Sydney; was shipwrecked of the coast of New Guinea, press-ganged in Batavia, and drafted in Penang; visited India; and served in the navy in Ireland, Spain, Holland, France and America.
