Cloth bound box measuring 257 x 257 x 110 mm with unique moulded title label lettered ‘VI’, containing an four page calligraphic manuscript zettel (paper guide) with a Buddhist quotation on the meaning of happiness, six coloured kiln-fired glass sheets with manuscript text, hand painting and coloured glass collage, interleaved with felt sheets, perspex display stand contained in the base of the box.
A rare Australian artists book made entirely from glass. One of only four examples left in private hands.
A rare deluxe edition created by the notable Melburnian glass artist Klaus Zimmer, born in Berlin in 1928, who left a legacy of magnificent stained glass windows in Australian buildings. One of a series of eight unique handmade artists books, published by the late Klaus Zimmer’s wife, publisher and art historian Professor Jenny Zimmer, where he explores the relationship between image text through the translucent medium of glass. Each book is different.
