Rare historical compendium of the Dominican Province of the Holy Rosary – the Dominican mission in Asia – which arrived in the Philippines in 1587. The Province was admitted by the General Chapter of the Order in 1591.
The author of the dedication and prologue (and probably the entire work) is Father Francisco Marquez (d. 1706). Marquez was also the author of a grammar of the Hokkien dialect spoken in the Philippines, Gramatica española-china del dialecto de Amoy, the only known copy of which was destroyed during the Japanese bombing of the Dominican Provincial Archives in Manila in 1941.
