Quarto, publisher’s printed papered boards, maroon cloth spine, tipped-in colour frontispiece self-portrait of the artist, 33 pages of text (essay by Lindsay), LX plates (the first XXXII are tipped-in colour plates), a fine copy in the original presentation box (corners split).

With a signed presentation inscription from the publisher to Hugh Wright (1868–1957), librarian and historian, who added numerous Conrad Martens to the State Library of New South Wales during his tenure as Mitchell Librarian.
