Indiarvm ivre, sive De iusta Indiarum Occidentalium inquisitione, acquisitione et retentione tribvs libris comprehensam … Matriti [Madrid] : Ex Typographia Franciscus Martinez, Anno 1629-1639. Folio, [28], 751, [1 blank], [100] pp; title with fine engraving by Roberto Cordier depicting Philip IV enthroned, his foot resting on a globe, flanked by allegorical figures of America and Spain; initials, tail-pieces; text in Latin, in double columns, within double ruled frames; pale damp stain to upper outer corner of leaves from around page 140 (not affecting legibility of text), final 20 leaves with expert repairs to small worm tracks (affecting a tiny portion of text on each of these pages); else a very good copy bound in contemporary vellum boards, spine with morocco labels lettered in gilt.

First volume of the first edition of this important work on Spanish colonial jurisprudence, usually referred to as Disputationem de Indiarum jure. The second volume appeared in 1639. The first Spanish version, Politica indiana, was printed at Madrid in 1648. Solórzano was a Lima judge who became the pre-eminent colonial jurist of his time.
