Lip was published in 8 issues from 1976 to 1984. The first number includes articles on writer Dorothy Hewett, silversmith Belinda Coulstock, Australian embroidery, and Australian feminist art, film and performing arts.

Members of this Melbourne Collective at the time of the first number included Janine Burke, Mary Callaghan, Suzanne Davies, Folly Gleeson, Carolyn Howard, Christine Johnston, Sue Johnston, Pat Longmore, Suzanne Spunner, Ann Stephen, and Toni Wilkinson.
