Albumen print photograph, 155 x 210 mm, laid down on its original board mount; verso with the photographer’s inscription in ink: ‘Exchange Court Studio / Princes St., Dunedin’, and a detailed later inscription in pencil by one of the sitters: ‘Photo taken after return to Dn. fm. Owaka, date about 1890; Left to right: Wm. Mackie / Jas. Mon. / Geo. L. Stewart / Wm. Gray. In front: Alick Chisman. Had fished a week at Owaka partly in camp & partly at McLatchie’s, Highland Man’s [i.e. Scotsman’s] Bonnet [i.e. Glengarry], Owaka Valley. G. L. S. lived next to a square stone-like home in City Road, Opp. end of “Frederick” now “Sheen” St.‘; the print and mount are in very good condition.
