Errington notes that, according to the publisher’s archives, the total print run over the first London edition was 5150 copies, which are found in three states. The demand for copies of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was so great, the initial print run of the first edition of 5,150 copies had mostly pre-sold prior to the day of publication, leading the publisher to distribute reprints in advance of publication. The first print run of 5,150 copies in May 1999 was followed by a reprint of 101,800 copies in June 1999. This Australian edition was printed later that year.
