Hearne’s Tracing Competition for boys and girls.

Small oblong quarto (170 x 250 mm), original stapled wrappers (insect damage to bottom corner of upper wrapper and lower fore-edge margins of first few leaves); pp. 16, with seven full-page illustrated advertisements for Hearne’s Bronchitis Cure, each with the tracing paper interleaving intact and unused, and testimonials for Hearne’s medicinal remedies on the other pages; the inside of the upper wrapper has the instructions to competitors and conditions of the competition.

Scarce publication produced for a pre-WW1 promotional competition run by the Australian pharmaceutical company W. G. Hearne & Co., which was based in Geelong. Prizewinners were announced in the Sydney Morning Herald, 26 October 1912. The winner of the first prize, of £10, was 14-year-old Miss Mary Hall, of “Rosemount”, Homebush, New South Wales.
