Large quarto, original printed stiff wrappers (marked and foxed, paper splitting along spine), pp. 32, pages 5-31 comprised entirely of  lithographed vignette illustrations of racial types from around the world (arranged 25 to a page), with Cole’s essay occupying the first 4 and last pages; contents clean and sound.

An illustrated philosophical discourse by E.W. Cole, the famed Melbourne bookseller and publisher. His utopian essay expresses a belief in ‘the oneness of man’ and a hope for ‘unity and world federation’.

Rare. Only three copies are recorded in Australian collections (National Library of Australia; State Library of Victoria; Monash University Library).
