GOOD, Frank Mason (1839-1911)

[IMMIGRATION] The Australian letter.

Circa 1865. Stereoscopic albumen print photograph, each image 80 x 80 mm; verso imprinted ‘The Australian Letter. [A Study from Life] – I.W. No. 114. Photographed and Published by Frank M. Good, London.’; superb.

A wonderfully composed and lit tableau, set in an English rustic house, where one of the daughters reads aloud a letter from a loved one in the colonies.

Frank Good learned his craft as an assistant to Francis Frith, and was known mainly for his fine series of stereoscopic views of the Near East.
