An obscure though significant piece of Word War One Australian internment camp ephemera, which presumably would have been distributed to all German-speaking internees in camps in New South Wales (Holsworthy, Berrima, Trial Bay), Queensland (Enoggera), South Australia (Torrens Island), Western Australia (Marrinup, Rottnest Island), and Tasmania (Bruny Island).
Our translation:
‘Letters to prisoners of war must contain the writer’s full name and address on the back of the envelope and must not include any political or war references. The letters must be brief and written in ink on one side of a single page only. Only two letters per week are permitted.
