Small octavo (155 x 110 mm), contemporary limp vellum (traces of original ties, spine darkened and with remnants of old shelf label); title page with early annotation in Latin and 19th-century stamp of the Judith Lady Montefiore College, Ramsgate to lower margin, and some underling in the subtitle; pp. 23, 343, [2], 96; text in Latin and Hebrew; occasional early marginalia in ink and later underlining in pencil, two sections of approx. 100 pages in total have water staining at top edge encroaching on the text but with no loss of legibility, otherwise clean and sound; front pastedown with remnants of old shelf label and relevant cutting from an early 20th-century German bookseller’s catalogue pasted in.

Josephus’ The Jewish War in Hebrew (translated from the Greek) accompanied by a Latin translation; followed by the Decalogue with the commentary of Abraham Ibn Ezra, and a summary of the Pirkei Avot (Chapters of the Fathers), a compilation of the ethical teachings and maxims from Rabbinic Jewish tradition.
