[MAP]. Greetings from the heart of Sydney
[Sydney] : Balmoral, circa 1930. Pictorial map, 240 x 370 mm, folded as issued (a couple of short tears), printed greeting verso.
Unrecorded pictorial map of Sydney showing the ‘tribes’ of the Eastern suburbs. ‘The Rocks – a boisterous tribe’; ‘Elizabeth Bay – here abide very elegant folk’; ‘King’s Cross – here abide folk of divers occupations’; ‘Surry Hills – tribe given to uproarious activity’. In the harbour between the Domain and Kirribilli lies a warning ‘Beware! Should you travel beyond the limits of this map the Tribes are Wild’.
Charming map illustrated by one of the great commercial artists of the day.
Unrecorded on Trove.
