Small octavo (190 x 130 mm), pictorial wrappers (remnants of the original gold seal at fore-edges), staple bound, pp [44], b/w illustrations and advertisements (some colour); the official programme for the first Australian production of the musical comedy Betty (music by Paul A. Rubens, lyrics by Adrian Ross and Paul A. Rubens), which opened at His Majesty’s on Saturday, February 7 1925; the production’s Managing Directors were Sir George Tallis and the Tait brothers, with Charles A. Wenman as Associate Director; the producer was Harry Burcher and the stars were Maude Fane, Alfred Frith, William Senior, George Jennings, Hugh Steyne, Reita Nugent, and Harry Wotton, along with the “Whirlwind Dancers” Cunningham and Clements; the full cast of the production is printed across the centre pages, plus there is a list of musical numbers as well as portraits of other performers in forthcoming Williamson productions such as Guy Bates Post and Marie Burke; a very good copy.
