Harrison’s decorative lithographed letterhead advertising ‘… newest designs in wall papers, ceilings, and friezes. Plain, coloured and ornamental glass. Lead lights repaired …’; the bill is for Mr. H. S. Stillwell of “Belmont”, Denham Street, Hawthorn, the many itemised entries detailing all of the electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, plastering, painting and paper-hanging undertaken in the complete renovation of “Belmont”, at a total cost of £146-10 (with a loose receipt for a payment of £131-10); the 6 pages in fine condition, with the original (unrusted) pin.
A valuable primary source document from the Depression era giving an insight into the costs associated with building repairs and interior decoration for a house in one of Melbourne’s most affluent suburbs.
