First edition of this publication on the early history of the Portuguese in Macao, edited by the historian Julio Firmino Judice Biker. The first part is a memoir of the establishment of Macao, written by the Viscount of Santarém; the second part is an abridged account of the embassy that King João V of Portugal sent to the Chinese Emperor Yongzheng in 1725, which was led by Alexandre Metelo de Sousa e Meneses; and the third part is a report by Francisco de Assis Pacheco de Sampaio to King José I on the successes of his embassy to the Court of Beijing in the year 1752.
