SEEBOHM, Henry (1832 - 1895); BOWDLER SHARPE, R. (1847 - 1909)
A monograph of the Turdidae, or family of thrushes.
By the late Henry Seebohm, … edited and completed (after the author’s death) by R. Bowdler Sharpe, Lld., F.L.S., etc. London : Henry Sotheran & Co., 1902. Two volumes, thick quarto, publisher’s binding of half red morocco over red cloth bound boards, gilt ruled, spine in compartments, ruled and lettered in gilt, top edges gilt, photogravure portrait frontispiece of Seebohm, pp. xi, 337; ix, 260; 149 hand coloured lithographs by Keulemans, a fine, clean set.
The last work published by famed ornithologist Seebohm, and many argue, his best. “A thorough monograph of a limited section of the family Turdidae … Several new species are described. The hand-coloured plates by Keulemans are excellent” (Zimmer).
