Sir George Simpson was a Scottish explorer and colonial governor of the Hudson’s Bay Company during the height of its power and influence.

Narrative of a journey round the world described Simpson’s journey to Canada from England, where he travelled across the continent via Edmonton to Fort George, Vancouver, up to Sitka, Alaska, sailing down to San Francisco, Monterey and Santa Barbara, travelling across to Hawaii, returning to Europe via Siberia and Russia.
