[=How I became a missionary and found my way to Australia and New Guinea]. Neuendettelsau : Verlag des Missionshauses, 1910. Second edition. Series: Neuendettelsau Verlag des Missionshauses Nr. 13. Octavo (220 x 145 mm), original pictorial pink wrappers (a little darkened), stapled; pp 32, with a photographic frontispiece portrait of Flierl; text in German, in Fraktur; a very good copy.

An extract from German Lutheran missionary Johann Flierl’s Führungen Gottes : ein Rückblick auf meinen Lebensgang und auf meine 20jährige Thätigkeit in der Mission (1899). In the late 1870s and early 1880s Flierl served at the Aboriginal mission at Killalpaninna (Bethesda) in remote north South Australia. He then established a mission called Elim at Hopevale, near Cooktown in far north Queensland, to serve the Guugu Yimidhirr people, before journeying across the Torres Strait to join the Neuendettelsau Mission in German New Guinea.

Rare. Trove locates only two copies (AIATSIS; SLQ) – the only copies of any edition in Australian collections.
