Although printed in London, it was produced by Turkish cartographers and geography teachers under the editorship of Faik Sabri Duran (1882-1943), a noted geographer and travel writer. It was published in the early Republican period of Turkey, just prior to the Letter Revolution in 1928.

Duran studied in Istanbul and Paris. He worked as a geography teacher in various high schools, then as a lecturer and manager at Ankara Gazi Education Institute. He was known for his writings on various subjects, but especially for his works on geography.
