Three volumes, octavo, original blue cloth, upper boards with stamped gilt design, spines with gilt lettering  (heads and tails softened, edges rubbed), pastedowns with ownership inscription of Alfred Torrensl, pp. 410, 405, 431, illustrated with lithographed plates, contents clean and sound, a very good set. Not in Ferguson, who notes the second edition (also 1852), 12957.

The memoir of the deputy adjutant general of the colonial forces in Australia, who travelled throughout New South Wales, Van Diemen’s Land and New Zealand between the years 1846 and 1851. His narrative includes a very early account of a visit to the Ophir gold fields near Bathurst.
