Printed form on blue paper, printed recto only, completed in manuscript, being a shipping receipt on the letterhead of the Consulate of the United States of America, Hong Kong, made out to the Master & Owner of Ship Hurricane, dated November 20th, 1854 and signed by James Keenan, Consul. Keenan was the second American Consul to Hong Kong and served from 1853 – 1862.
The Hurricane was an extreme clipper ship built in Hoboken by Isaac Smith in 1851. She sailed from San Francisco on September 21 and arrive in Hong Kong 40 days later.
