Two albumen print photographs, carte de visite format, 104 x 63 mm, versos with the illustrated imprint in gilt of ‘J. Botterill, Photographer, Bee-Hive Chambers, Elizabeth Street’, and with contemporary identifying captions in ink: ‘Christina Marion Cullen aged 3 years 8 months’ and ‘Angus Fraser Cullen aged 2 1/2 years’, respectively; both prints and both mounts are in fine condition.

Studio portraits of Christina and Angus, two of the children of William Cullen (1831-1883 Wahgunyah, Victoria) and Jeanette Fraser (Nova Scotia, Canada 1838-1912, Rutherglen, Victoria). William and Jeanette were married in Victoria in 1868.

Christina Marion Cullen (McLaurin) was born in 1871 at Woodend, Victoria. She married Robert McGibbon McLaurin (Deniliquin, NSW 1868-1942 Rutherglen, Victoria) in Victoria in 1900, and died in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales in 1953. She is buried in the Carlyle Cemetery, Rutherglen, Victoria. Christina and Robert had five children: Jeanette Fraser (McGeoch) 1901-1999?; Helen Taylor (Scott) 1905-1969; Robert McGibbon 1907-1989; William Cullen 1911-1963; Marion Mavis (Jack) 1914-?

Angus Fraser Cullen was born in 1872 on Sandy Ridges Station near Albury, New South Wales. He married Agnes Esther Reynolds in Victoria in 1910, and died in Melbourne in 1942. He is also buried in the Carlyle Cemetery, Rutherglen, Victoria. Angus and Agnes had three children: Agnes Jeanette (Falkiner) 1911-1987; Mary Louise (Bult) 1913-1984; Angus Fraser 1920-1981
