Obispo electo de la Nueva Caceres en estas Islas Philipinas. Dedicados a la Reyna Nuestra Señora Doña Mariana de Austria.

Small quarto, original limp vellum (marked and stained), spine with manuscript title in ink; printed on rice paper; ff [viii], 219, [3]; title with woodcut vignettes including episcopal emblem; woodcut historiated initial and tailpiece; title with long repaired tear and strengthening at the margins, most other preliminary leaves with some restoration and repair (loss of a few letters here and there); small number of leaves with worming at bottom margin; scattered browning; a good, complete copy.

A collection of sermons by a prominent seventeenth century Spanish Augustinian missionary to the Philippines, Baltasar de Herrera, who is regarded as one of the most eloquent preachers in the Islands during this period. At least two of the sermons either give thanks or pray for the safety of Spanish ships and their crews voyaging to and from the Philippines.
