John Joseph “Joe” Slater (1872-1926) was an Australian composer of light classical and popular works for the music hall stage, who also ran a successful music publishing company and sheet music outlet in Leichhardt and the Haymarket, Sydney.
Curiously, this is the only edition of Kitchener that appears to have been printed, yet it was not published by Slater himself. It is now a very scarce piece of Australian patriotic sheet music. The National Library of Australia holds the only copy recorded in Australian collections.
