A collection of essays by American journalist and humorist William Alden. Something of a Renaissance man, Alden was also founder of the New York Canoe Club, the first canoeing orgaisation in America, and co-founder of the American Canoe Association. Between 1885 and 1890 he served as the American Consul General in Rome.
