Melbourne : Sotheby’s Australia, 1989. Quarto (270 x 210 mm), illustrated wrappers (small annotation in biro to front, and the lower wrapper with a very light crease); unpaginated auction catalogue with 151 lots, most illustrated in b/w; includes Aboriginal artefacts, early Arnhem Land bark paintings, brass king plates, New Guinea shields and statues, and Fijian, New Hebrides and Solomon Islands weaponry; no sign of any dot paintings or acrylic on canvas in this sale – and there are quite a few objects that would not even be considered for inclusion in a sale today because of the sensitive nature of the material; contents clean throughout, errata slip loosely inserted; a good copy of a scarce pre-Klingender era catalogue.
