Australian writer Katharine Susannah Prichard (1883-1969) resided in Greenmount, Western Australia from 1920 until her death. She became a co-founder of the Communist Party of Australia in 1921 and remained a member for the rest of her life.
Her story, The Cooboo, was first published in 1927: ‘Set on the wide plains of the Murndoo station, ‘The Cooboo’ is the story of Rose, a Wongana woman, mother, and stockwoman.’ (AustLit)
