Australian writer Katharine Susannah Prichard (1883-1969) resided in Greenmount, Western Australia from 1920 until her death. She became a co-founder of the Communist Party of Australia in 1921 and remained a member for the rest of her life.

Her story, The Cooboo, was first published in 1927: ‘Set on the wide plains of the Murndoo station, ‘The Cooboo’ is the story of Rose, a Wongana woman, mother, and stockwoman.’ (AustLit)

Anna Maria Josephina was first published in 1958.

This recording, financed through donations by friends, was made to raise funds for the peace movement in Australia.
