Albumen print photograph, carte de visite format, 101 x 62 mm (mount); verso with imprint of ‘Johnstone, O’Shannessy & Co., Artist Photographers, 3 Bourke Street East, next the Post Office, Melbourne’, and a later pencilled inscription identifying the sitter as ‘Annabella Helen Sloane, wife of Alexander Sloane’; both the print and the mount are in very good condition.

Provenance: From a family album belonging to Alexander Sloane (1829-1907) and his wife Annabella Helen (née Gibson, 1836-1920), of Mulwala and Savernake Stations, southern New South Wales; thence by descent.
