Australian politician the Hon. Sir Henry Parkes GCMG (1815-1896), commonly known by the epithet “Father of Federation”, was five times premier of New South Wales between 1872 and 1891. This portrait of Parkes by Elliott and Fry was taken during his visit to England in the spring of 1882.
