In 2002, while on assignment in Afghanistan for the New Yorker, Magnum photographer Thomas Dworzak collected an astonishing array of glamourised portrait photos of Taliban fighters in Kandahar, within days of the Taliban fleeing the city. They are presented in this splendidly produced book, accompanied by illuminating short essays by Dworzak, Jon Lee Anderson and Thomas Rees.
