Two volumes, quarto, fine modern binding of quarter green goatskin over cloth bound boards, ruled in blind, spine in compartments with contrasting morocco title labels, tooled in gilt, vellum tips, pp. xxxii; 392; 393 – 962, 7 coloured maps and 45 lithographed plates, of which 42 are hand-coloured; internally clean, bound without the wrappers, a couple of small shelf marks neatly written to the verso, a fine set.

A rare scholarly work on the magnificent birds to be found on Celebes in the Indonesian Archipelago, as well as neighbouring islands, including New Guinea and the north of Australia.
