Housed in the publisher’s original bookform box, 420 x 305 x 110 mm, brass lock (lacks key), the leather exterior flaked and recently lacquered in place, the interior lined in marbled paper, with an advertisement for other publication of John Bell inside the lid. The advertisement notes that for his 21 volume set of Bell’s British Theatre, ‘Travelling cases, to contain the whole, in the form of a folio volume, are sold at one guinea each’.
