1898. Albumen print photograph, 150 x 210 mm, laid down on its original album leaf of thick card, contemporary calligraphic caption in red ink to the mount beneath the image “The Western Plains”; the print is in good condition, with some motting in the negative from the printing process; the album leaf has some light marks to the margins.

In 1898 the Sydney-based commercial photographer Charles Kerry travelled throughout central western New South Wales, creating an important visual record of the landscape, scenes of rural life and Aboriginal people on their traditional land.
