Albumen print photograph with hand colouring, carte de visite format, 102 x 63 mm (mount), verso with decorative back mark surmounted by the Australian coat of arms and worded ‘Photographed by Alfred Winter, 19 Elizabeth Street, Hobart Town. Established in Melbourne 8 years.’; the print is in good condition; the mount has a sprinkling of light foxing.

A nicely composed full-length portrait of a smartly attired young lad, his hat resting on the table beside him. His cheeks have been delicately tinted by the studio colourist (probably Winter himself).
