Un compagnon suédois du capitaine James Cook au cours de son deuxième voyage. (Presentation copy for Francis Edwards)
$750.00 AUD
Oslo : La Coquille qui Chante, 1939. Edition limited to 100 numbered copies. (This copy is no. 29). Presentation copy, inscribed on the title-page by the work’s translator for London bookseller Francis Edwards: ‘Francis Edwards, with the compliments of Bjarne Kroepelien’. Octavo (225 x 150 mm), white pigskin over papered boards, spine with raised bands ruled and lettered in gilt; pp. 91, [2 plates] + colophon; front pastedown with later ex libris of the Säbylund Fideikommissbibliotek; title-page with minor spotting, last leaf starting to loosen, else a very fine presentation copy with a nice association, since Kroepelien acquired many of his important travel books from Francis Edwards.
French translation, by Bjarne Kroepelien, of Sparrman’s Resa till Goda Hoppsudden.
Beddie, 1283.
Trove locates three copies (NLA; SLNSW; SLV)
