Octavo (200 x 135 mm), contemporary panelled calf, spine with raised bands and contrasting leather title piece lettered in gilt; pp. [66], 464, [43 Index]; two engraved frontispiece plates with portraits of John and Peter Barwick, respectively, folding table bound in at p. 316, engraved head- and tailpieces and initials; text in Latin; occasional spotting and browning, otherwise internally excellent; a fine copy in an attractive contemporary binding.

A biography of John Barwick (1612-1664), royalist churchman and Dean of St. Paul’s Cathedral, written in 1671 by his brother, the physician Peter Barwick (1619-1705), who deposited the manuscript, along with the original papers in support of the facts mentioned in his account, in the library of St John’s college, Cambridge. It remained unpublished until William Bowyer’s edition of 1721.
