Adelaide-born artist Mortimer Menpes worked as a war artist for the London weekly illustrated magazine Black and White during the Second Anglo-Boer War in South Africa (1899-1902). This magnificently produced book is a memoir of his war experience, profusely illustrated with his superb watercolours, sketches and paintings which vividly capture the scenes, sights and personalities of this military campaign.
