The following biographical notes are found on the website of the Australian National Herbarium (https://www.anbg.gov.au/biography/hammond-camilla.html):

Hammond, Camilla (fl. 1880s – 1903)

Adelaide. Botanical artist. Contributed to J.E.Brown, The Forest Flora of South Australia (1882-1890).

Also published: Wild flowers of Australia, as painted from nature, by Camilla Hammond. Melbourne : Robert Jolly, 23 pages (1903)

In 1881 Camilla Hammond placed an advertisement:

“Miss Camilla Hammond (late head Teacher of English Drawing and Painting at the Hohere Tochterschule of the Baroness von Vogten)… will be prepared to receive Pupils at her residence for instructions in all the branches of a high class Education…” [South Australian Register of 29th April 1881]

By 1884 she had clearly left South Australia since she placed an advertisement in a Hobart newspaper describing herself as:

“Miss Camilla Hammond of London (late of Adelaide) will be prepared after February 1, 1885, to give LESSONS in Schools or Families in the following subjects: – German and French, acquired by six years residence on the Continent of Europe; Drawing and Water-colour Painting, viz, Geometry, Perspective, Models, and from Nature (South Kensington Certificate).” [The Mercury, 6th December 1884, p. 1]

The move to Tasmania presumably explains why she only ever contributed to the first plate in the Forest Flora. By 1889 Miss Hammond was the Principal of The Hobart Proprietary Ladies College. She later produced her own book Wildflowers of Australia, as painted from nature in 1904 and produced a flower calendar for sale for the year 1905.
