10 lithographs on “Australians” by Anne Graham. (Copy number 1)

Gilt-lettered cloth portfolio (lightly flecked) titled ‘Anne Graham Lithographs’, 44 x 61 cm; containing a lettered title sheet (discoloured, with a couple of small holes) and ten lithographs, each with a numbered tissue guard (some are creased); the graphics all in fine condition, each signed, titled and numbered by the artist 1/50.

The titles of the lithographs are: At the Gallery; At the Market; State School; Footy; Casino; Fisherman; Aborigines; Three Old Men; Airport.

Anne Marie Graham was born in Vienna in 1925 to a Jewish family who emigrated to Australia in 1939, on the eve of the Second World War. She studied art at the RMIT Art School and later at the George Bell School, and began exhibiting in the 1950s. She presented the first children’s art show on Australian TV – Handy Anne  – in 1956. She spent over 70 years as a practising artist; having only ceased painting at the age of 93.
