Manuscript on parchment, folio bifolium (470 x 320 mm), [3] pages, written in a fine clerical hand, dated 18 November 1857 and recording the conveyance of part of Allotment 3, Section 9 in the Parish of South Melbourne at Sandridge (on Stoke Street in what is now Port Melbourne), from Selig Alexander, merchant, of the City of Melbourne, to Charles Williams, of Sandridge near Melbourne, carpenter; the third page with the signatures of Selig Alexander and witness W. Briggs (Clerk to solicitors Selwyn & Klingender) and red wax seal; docketed on outer side, recording entry of the document into the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Victoria on 18 November 1857; original folds, in fine condition.
The Jewish merchant Selig Alexander is possibly the same Selig Alexander who had formerly run a pawnbroker business in Main Road, Ballarat.
