[Nuremberg : Bauer, c. 1830]. Concertina paper strip of vignettes of the races of the world, each vignette 55 x 45 mm, coloured by hand, the illustrations cut into sections and laid on an early leaf, perhaps from a scrapbook, with captions in German, including inhabitants from Greenland, Canada, Turkey, Arabia, Persia, China, Kamchatka, Van Diemen’s Land, the Friendly Islands, the Marquesas Islands, New Holland, etc.

In the 1830s the German globe manufacturer of Bauer published miniature globes which came in a small box with a folding concertina of people of the world. Each example of Bauer’s miniature globe has a different configuration of figures, and Pacific Islanders are uncommon. This example has good content illustrating indigenous people from Australia and the Pacific.
