$950.00 AUD
At head of title: Conférence Internationale des Horaires des Trains a St.-Pétersbourg pour le service d’hiver 1899-1900. St.-Pétersbourg & Moscou : Société M. O. Wolff, Imprimeurs-Editeurs-Libraires de la Cour Impériale, 1899. Small octavo (185 x 130 mm), original red cloth decorated in blind and lettered in gilt (nice and bright); half-title leaf, photographic frontispiece, title-leaf, pp. xviii, 104; with numerous half-tone photographic plates, folding plan of the Hermitage, folding map Environs de St.-Pétersbourg, full-page plan of the Peterhof, and a folding colour map St.-Pétersbourg at rear; front hinge with short split at foot, half-title with a short tear at top edge, otherwise internally excellent throughout. [TOGETHER WITH] Plan de Saint-Pétersbourg offert à Messieurs les Délégués da la Conférence Internationale des Horaires des Trains pour le service d’hiver 1899-1900. [St. Petersburg : s.n., 1899]. Very large folding colour map, 700 x 600 mm, original folds (small perforation at the junction of one, otherwise fine condition). This map was issued solely for distribution among the delegates at the International Conference on Train Timetables; the delegate who owned the present copy of the guidebook kept his/her copy of the map neatly folded in the front of the guidebook, meaning that it has survived in almost perfect condition.
This 1899 edition of what seems to have been an annually published guidebook to St. Petersburg was issued in conjunction with the International Conference on Train Timetables which was held in the city that year. The guidebook is quite scarce in its own right; the specially issued map that accompanies this particular copy is, however, very rare, with no copies located in OCLC. (In fact, we were not able to trace another example of it).
