A report on the current state of affairs in Japan and the progress of the mission there, by the Portuguese Jesuit missionary and linguist Luís Fróis (1532-1597). This Venice edition is one of at least three that were printed in Italian in 1595 (the Rome edition being the first). A French edition appeared in Douay in the same year; and in 1596 a German translation was published in Köln.

Fróis, who had arrived in Japan via Goa and Macau in 1563, was author of the important Historia de Iapam.
